I hope you find a nice and clean one and enjoy shooting with it ! I cannot say much about handling since I have not handled the Mamiya much, but handling a Rolleiflex is like handling a Leice: Everything is placed where it belongs. Even at f5.6 or f4 I found that there is really not much to complain about. The Rolleicords are even lighter and the Xenar lens delivers the same performance as the Tessar wide open, and about the same as the xenotar / planar lenses from f8 on if handheld. The 2.8 and 3.5 planars / xenotars may be nice, but the tessars are a bit lighter / smaller and also very capable and at f8 you will not notice any difference if you shoot w/o a tripod. So if you want to enjoy a lightweight TLR then I would recommend a MVX with a Tessar lens or a Rolleicord V in good shape. I also have a Rolleiflex with a Xenotar 3.5 lens, which is a bit bigger and heavier. I even take it with me when climbing (so much about protability). Weightwise my Rolleiflex Automat (with the Tessar) is roughly about the same weight as my Leica M2 with a 50mm lens attached and I enjoy it quite a bit. The Mamiya is really a lot heavier than any Rolleiflex TLR. If you can't buy one from a shop (with a warrenty), try to budget to allow for a cla. No built in meter unless you buy a metered finder.Įither camera will be easy to use once you get used to it.

Bellows focusing (can do macro work but you have to allow for parallex error.) Walk around all day long with the stock strap around your neck and your neck and back will remind you of the experience the next day. The C330 is definately more of a handfull. The 80mm black lens seems sharper than the 3.5 on the Rollei but I've not compared it to a 2.8 Rollei. I wanted the interchangable lenses and easily available accessories. I started with a Rollei 3.5 and then moved to a Mamiya C330. Mamiya C330? Is the size really such a big factor? Is the handlingįaster, more secure, better? Or are they much of a muchness? Your So my question is what are the advantages of the Rollei over the Price up to unrealistic levels ( a point where I might as wellĬonsider the Mamyia 6). The expensive extras - service and screen replacement - pushing the I think I could stretch to a D or E pricewise but I am worried about They are smaller and lighter than the Mamyia and that would suit me. I have trawled the archives for information on the Rolleis, since So then I remembered the TLR'S and the joy of waistlevel Thought was the Mamiya 6, since I like rangefinders - but the price Pentax LX, but would like to use square format for a while. I'm thinking I would like to try out medium format photography againīut I am not sure what to get. The 2.8 lens on the C330 was superb, but the beast was large. In the past I used a Mamiya 220 and a C330 F, not extensively butĮnough to get familiar with them and remember their virtues and
